A fast zoom for all occasions
The particularly small and lightweight standard zoom for mirrorless APS-C cameras is the ultimate always-on lens.
SIGMA's first zoom specifically for mirrorless cameras with an APS-C sensor has a versatile zoom range of 27-75mm 35mm equivalent. This makes it ideal for a wide range of photo and video shoots, from landscape, portrait and street photography to architectural shots and reportage. With a magnification of up to 1:2.8*1, it can also be used for close-up photography up to a focusing distance of 12.1 cm. The maximum aperture of F2.8 not only enables hand-held shots to be taken even in poor lighting conditions, but can also ensure effective cropping of the subject by playing with a shallow depth of field.

The autofocus is extremely fast and quiet - thanks to the stepper motor drive. This proves to be particularly useful for photos and video recordings of fast-moving subjects such as children and animals. Its low weight of just 290g and compact dimensions make it a perfect choice as an always-on Lens that can handle a wide range of shooting situations. It can also be used as a "back-up lens" on a full-frame camera*2.

High speed of F2.8 and outstanding image quality
The SIGMA 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN | Contemporary covers the focal length range between 27 and 75mm (equivalent to 35mm format) - with a continuous speed of F2.8. This makes it ideal for portraits and close-ups where you want to crop the subject against a blurred background that does not distract from the subject in focus thanks to the attractive, soft bokeh.
With three high-precision, bright-pressed aspherical lenses and a reduction in the total number of optical elements, the Lens achieves outstanding image quality with a low weight. The in-camera correction of optical disturbances also helps to eliminate aberrations such as distortion and vignetting. This performance is made possible by the advanced lens development technology at SIGMA's sole production facility in Aizu, Japan, where all SIGMA lenses are manufactured.

Exceptionally light and compact - ideal for mirrorless cameras
The SIGMA 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN | Contemporary is remarkably light and compact, making it the perfect complement to APS-C mirrorless cameras. It is the perfect standard zoom, ideal for everyday use and suitable for a wide range of shooting situations. The lens is currently the smallest and lightest in its class *1, with a maximum diameter of 65.4mm, a length of 74.5mm and a weight of 290g *2, while maintaining a constant aperture of F2.8.

To keep the weight down, SIGMA has constructed the lens from specially selected materials. The lens barrel is made of the polycarbonate TSC (Thermally-Stable-Composite), which is slim and robust and, above all, has a thermal conductivity similar to that of aluminum. This ensures high reliability and smooth operation in changing temperatures. For some internal components, SIGMA deliberately opted for metal, as these parts require less material while being stronger. As a result, the lens is designed to withstand more intensive use.

Suitable for a wide range of shooting situations
The SIGMA 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN | Contemporary has a fast and almost silent autofocus, which makes it suitable for a wide range of photographic applications, including shooting in quiet environments and taking videos and photos that require fast focus tracking. This is achieved by using a stepper motor to drive the focus. As the lens is small and lightweight, it can be used very flexibly in situations that require high mobility, or when shooting from hard-to-reach shooting positions, gimbal shots, one-man video shoots and vlogging.

A wide range of applications was a priority in the development of the lens, and so SIGMA has chosen a design with a closest focusing distance of 12.1cm and a maximum magnification of 1:2.8*, which makes it ideal for close-ups.

Together with the extremely compact SIGMA fp full-frame camera, this results in a total weight of just 712g - so the Lens can also be used as a "back-up" on a full-frame camera in crop mode if, for example, the weight of the equipment needs to be minimized.

The 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN | Contemporary, which combines compact dimensions, low weight, high performance and high speed, can handle a wide range of tasks, primarily with entry-level mirrorless models in both photography and video recording, but also with full-frame cameras.

Meisterleistung von Sigma
Ich schreibe diese Bewertung sieben Stunden nach dem Erhalt des Objektivs, am offiziellen Release-Tag. Kann ich da überhaupt objektiv sein? Egal - dieses neue Sigma ist der Hammer! Scharf wie eine Festbrennweite schon bei Offenblende, wertig verarbeitet, tolles Bokeh, unglaublich leicht und kompakt. So ein Objektiv hätte ich nicht für möglich gehalten! Der Zoomring fühlt sich sehr gut an. Einziges Manko ist der Fokusring, der fällt mir für meine grobe Motorik etwas zu klein und wenig griffig aus. Da ich aber selten manuell fokussiere, kann ich damit trotzdem gut leben. Unterm Strich ist das Sigma 18-50mm DC DN für mich das neue ultimative APS-C Objektiv.
Einen riesigen Daumen hoch auch Foto Koch & die unglaublich schnelle Lieferung pünktlich am Erscheinungstag!

Super verarbeitetes Reise / Immerdrauf / Standard ZOOM Objektiv
Habe das Objektiv als "leichte" Alternative zu den Fuji Zooms erstanden.
Benutzt wird es an der XS 10, die ja einen 5 Achsen Stabi eingebaut hat, somit ist auch mit längeren Verschlusszeiten noch gut auch ohne OIS aus der Hand zu fotografieren.
Super Verarbeitung / Made in Japan / nach Registrierung 3 Jahre Garantie

Werde mal nach einigen Testaufnahmen im WW und Tele e.t.c. kurz in +/- meine Erfahrungen schildern.
Pros:
erstmal für ein Objektiv mit 2.8 Blende ein sehr geringes Gewicht (speziell als Immerdrauf auf Reisen)
Bildqualität ausgezeichnet für ein Zoom, teilweise genauso gut oder besser wie meine Festbrennweiten
von Fuji 35mm F2 und 23mm F1.4 R
Natürlich hat das 1.4 r ein weicheres Bokeh, aber das ist natürlich der großen Blendenöffnung zu verdanken!
Autofokus gut, Augenerkennung funktioniert
Farbwiedergabe neutral, ist ja aber subjektiv, mit den Fuji Filmsimulationen..
Highlight auch die geringe Naheinstellgrenze im WW, fast schon Makro .. allerdings bekommt man je nach Lichteinfall schnell Abschattung ins Bild.

Was mir nicht so gefällt, aber nach Gewöhnung gut funktioniert:
* Zomm Richtung gegen den Uhrzeigersinn, warum weiß nur Sigma
* Kein Blendenring, geht aber mit vorderem Einstellrad natürlich auch
* kein Stabi eingebaut, stört mich aber bei der XS 10 mit Stabi im Gehäuse nicht.
* etwas mehr Tele wäre schon gut, aber dann wirds ja auch wieder größer und schwerer ...

Ist als Immerdrauf / Reisezoom / Streetfotografie absolut zu empfehlen.

Hoffe konnte auch bei der Entscheidung etwas helfen!
