The LUMIX G70 is equipped with a 4K video function, enabling smooth, high-resolution video recordings with breathtaking details. The 4K technology is not only interesting for filmmakers, but also offers a special advantage for photographers: the appropriate still image in 8 megapixel resolution can be extracted from a 4K photo series at 30 frames per second, making it particularly easy to capture the "magic moment" with fast-moving subjects.

With its stylish and functional design, the LUMIX G70 closes the gap between the premium bridge camera FZ1000 and the DSLM flagship GH4. Two mode dials on the top of the Body as well as dials on the front and back ensure intuitive operation and can be individually assigned to different functions. A focus switch also facilitates quick changes between AFS/AFC/MF.

The 16-megapixel Digital Live MOS sensor not only improves sensitivity compared to its predecessor, the G6, but also gradation, resolution and color reproduction, thus ensuring optimized image quality. The Venus Engine with its quad-core processor significantly increases performance. The fast signal processing enables continuous shooting at up to 8 fps (AFS)/6 fps (AFC) at full resolution.

With the innovative DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology, the hybrid contrast autofocus achieves extremely short focus times, which are particularly noticeable at longer focal lengths. Many revised AF functions such as Eye Detection AF and Low Light AF ensure simple and flexible use in different situations.

Another new feature is the OLED display for the viewfinder, whose resolution has been increased from 1.4 MP on the G6 to a remarkable 2.4 million pixels on the G70.

Thanks to the integrated WiFi module, the camera can now even connect to a smartphone or tablet without a password - making it easy to share and save images.

1. Photo and video functions
LUMIX G cameras are ideal for high-resolution movie recording. The G70 follows this tradition with smooth 4K video recording at 3,840 x 2,160 pixels at 25p or 24p in addition to Full HD mode at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and 50p as well as practical Full-Time AF. In addition to the 4K video functionality, the "4K Photo" option is also an exciting alternative for photographers. With "4K Photo", fast-moving or unpredictable scenes can be easily recorded with a 4K series at 30 fps. The desired still image can then be extracted from the video material as an 8 megapixel photo.
Also on board are three new 4K modes for recording 4K material: 4K Pre-burst, 4K Series and 4K Series (Start/Stop). 4K Pre-burst mode automatically captures 60 frames - 30 frames before and 30 frames after the shutter release - while 4K Continuous captures unlimited* shots at 30 fps, similar to full resolution continuous shooting. 4K Continuous mode(Start/Stop) starts shooting when the shutter is released and stops when it is released again.
With 4K Photo, photographers never miss the right moment - and can capture the decisive moment of a moving subject in an 8MP image at any time.

2.High photo performance
The G70's 16 megapixel Digital Live MOS sensor ensures high resolution with minimal noise. In combination with the quad-core processor, the Venus Engine ensures fast signal processing at 8 fps (AFS). The G70 enables crisper images, especially when the aperture is closed, thanks to the processor's new diffraction correction. The improved multi-process NR (Noise Reduction) ensures effective noise suppression while preserving fine edges and details. A new random filter gives a more natural impression of chromatic noise in the image.

3. Forward-looking design and improved functions
With its stylish and functional design, the G70 is the link between the premium bridge camera FZ1000 and the flagship GH4. It has also been equipped with the proven direct control dials and the practical focus switch.
To further improve the control options, the G70 comes with a second mode dial. Among other things, the wheel enables quick activation of the 4K photo mode. In addition, there are further control dials on the front and rear that can be used to manually adjust the aperture and shutter speed, for example. Different functions can be assigned to the dials and FN buttons according to preference. It is also possible to use the dials to temporarily change functions. In normal mode, for example, the white balance can be adjusted with the front knurled wheel, while the ISO value is set with the rear wheel. By pressing the function button on the rear wheel, the wheel function can be "overridden" for a short time, for example to correct the exposure, which is particularly helpful in difficult lighting conditions. The focus switch facilitates quick changes between the AFS/AFC/MF modes.

4. Outstanding autofocus performance
The autofocus of the G70 is equipped with DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology*¹. This noticeably reduces the focusing time by determining the distance to the subject by evaluating two defocused images with different focal planes, while at the same time taking into account the optical properties of the Lens. Using this information, the focusing system moves directly into the focus area to be determined and only needs to make fine adjustments. The resulting speed advantage is particularly noticeable as the focal length increases.
As a result, the G70 achieves the shortest shutter release time of around 0.07 seconds*² and fundamentally faster focusing than its predecessor.
Continuous shooting at full resolution also achieves an impressive 6 fps with continuous autofocus - capturing moving subjects even better.
The low light autofocus sets the focus more precisely in extremely low light situations down to -4EV. With the G70's AF, it is even possible to focus on stars in the night sky by precisely calculating the contrast values of smaller AF fields.
In addition to the normal Face Detection AF, the G70 has a new Eye Detection AF that automatically focuses on the eye. With a new AF tracking algorithm, not only the color, but also the size and movement of the subject is detected, which means that the camera captures the respective object even more reliably. As a result, the AF tracking performance is increased by more than 200 percent compared to the G6.

5. OLED viewfinder and tilting touchscreen LCD monitor
The G70 is equipped with a newly developed, high-precision and fast OLED display for the viewfinder. The resolution of the screen is increased to an enormous 2.4 megapixels, with a magnification of approx. 1.4x / 0.7x (35mm camera equivalent) and 100 percent field of view coverage. The new viewfinder design ensures improved visibility and the image output between the monitor and Live View Finder is automatic thanks to the integrated eye sensor. With a contrast of 10,000:1, it has outstanding color reproduction. In addition, images can be displayed in monochrome, which is particularly suitable in combination with the (still) color focus peaking.
The touchscreen monitor can still be freely tilted for flexible perspectives and has a resolution of 1.0 megapixels.

6. WiFi function
The LUMIX G70 is equipped with a WiFi module, offering full flexibility when shooting, saving and sharing photos. The camera can be easily connected to a smartphone or tablet to post photos and videos to social networks immediately after shooting or to send them to friends or family by email. Mobile devices can also be used as a remote control for the G70 to adjust settings such as focus, aperture, shutter speed and ISO before the shutter button is pressed. A new feature is the option to allow access without having to enter a time-consuming password.
