The Panasonic Lumix DC-S5 II with phase autofocus and internal LUT processing takes your workflow to a new level! The S5 II is the perfect entry-level full-frame camera for photographers + videographers.

The sensor of the Panasonic S5 II

The 24.2 MP CMOS sensor of the Lumix S5 II is equipped with a powerful processor and was developed as part of the L² technology partnership between Leica and LUMIX. This processor not only does a great job with autofocus, but also with image quality. The Panasonic S5 II offers a finer resolution than its predecessor. Last but not least, the processor also contributes to the recording of natural colors. The S5 II provides access to Dual Native ISO technology, which reduces ISO noise and expands the sensor dynamic range.

The IBIS built into the Panasonic Lumix DC-S5 II is a 5-axis image stabilizer which, together with a Lenses, offers this stabilization up to 6.5 f-stops. The IBIS itself achieves a stabilization performance of up to 5 f-stops. So if a Lenses without image stabilization is used, these 5 stops are still available.

All doors are also open in the low-light range: With an ISO of 100-51,200 and in the extended range up to 204,800 ISO.
The Panasonic S5 Mark II can work with both mechanical and electronic shutter, allowing it to shoot up to 30 frames per second in series. With a mechanical shutter, the Panasonic manages 9 frames per second.

96 megapixel resolution for still life shots

With this function, the camera creates an entire 96 megapixel image from 8 images. The camera is not dependent on external software.

High-performance phase autofocus in every situation

Whether moderate movement or dark situations. This Lumix offers you consistently good and precise autofocus performance. It reliably recognizes your subject and keeps it in focus so that you can concentrate on the essentials: The image composition and the appropriate settings. The autofocus of the Lumix S5 II offers a full 779 autofocus points - and therefore the best conditions for phase detection. The autofocus really comes into its own in backlit or low-light situations.

Editing without editing

Photography is often followed by image editing. But even without any knowledge at all, the Panasonic Lumix DC-S5 II can be used to create images + videos that will amaze the viewer. By using LUTs (Look up Tables) in the camera, colors, exposure and co. can be influenced as with a preset. What is special here is that the camera can not only display these, but also save them in parallel.

With the firmware update of 08.10.2024, the Lumix LAB app is now also available, with the app it is possible to transfer the images directly and edit the raw directly on the smartphone, from which a LUT can then also be created directly, which can be transferred to the camera via the phone.

Videography with many advantages

The Panasonic S5 II sets new standards in many aspects. This camera is a dream come true for demanding videographers, as it supports the Opengate format (at 6K) and offers many options for adapting the camera to the requirements on set.

For example, the Panasonic Lumix DC-S5 Mark II is also equipped with a full-size HDMI connection (type A) and supports some aspect ratios of anamorphic lenses. This means that the S5 II can also internally superimpose a LUT over the video material in video mode.
Another highlight is the video resolution of the Lumix. The camera is capable of up to 6K and H.265. At 4K, this system camera can cropped at 60fps. Another technical refinement of the Panasonic S5 II is the waveform display, thanks to which the colors + exposure can be displayed in three dimensions. Another feature is the programmed focus pull, which allows the focus point to be pulled at up to three predetermined points.

The robust and innovative body of the S5 II

For those who don't always work in the sunshine, the S5 II has a robust camera housing in which all buttons, rotary knobs and joints are protected from dust and splash water. The positioning of the built-in fan sets new standards in terms of heat management. It sits in front of the electronic viewfinder and draws in air from the front of the camera body, effectively cooling all critical components and ensuring unlimited video recordings.

The new viewfinder of the Lumix S5 II has once again become significantly higher-resolution, with a pixel density of approx. 3.68 million pixels. The display speed can also be optionally switched from 120fps to 60fps.

Memory card slots + connectivity of the Lumix S5 II

The Panasonic S5 II comes with two SD card slots, both of which comply with the UHS-II standard and thus offer enough space for photos + videos. For wireless control, the Lumix S5 II offers a Bluetooth and Wi-Fi interface. Preisleistungs-Hit
Die Kamera ist gut verarbeitet und liegt sehr gut in der Hand. Alle Knöpfe sind gut zu erreichen, der Joystick funktioniert prima. Für mich hat die Kamera folgende Vorteile: ein sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis, vor allem mit dem Objektiv (20-60 mm). Der Sucher ist sehr groß, im Vergleich zur Sony A73 ein Traum. Das Menü ist sehr intuitiv und dadurch schnell zu verstehen. Ein Highlight, ist die Möglichkeit, LUT‘s auf JPG anzuwenden. Das ist nicht sonderlich kompliziert und bietet unendlich viele Möglichkeiten. Mit der Funktion, die Deckkraft einzustellen, hat diese Variante der Bildbearbeitung Vorteile im Vergleich zu den Film-Simulation von Fujifilm. Die Auswahl an Objektiven ist mittlerweile auch groß genug, auch wenn sie nicht an die Anzahl der Sony kompatiblen Objektiven rankommt. Für mich hervorzuheben ist das so genannte Kit – Objektiv 20-60 mm. Der Brennweitenbereich ist einfach genial und ich erspare mir ein Super-Weitwinkel.

Ein Traum
Ich habe die Kamera nun schon seit über einem Jahr und könnte zufriedener nicht sein. Vor allem im Bereich Video ist die Kamera mit Abstand das beste Preisleistungsprodukt auf dem Markt! Mega Features wie Augenautofokus, Shutterangle und Real Time LUTs!

You provide your content free of charge and are not entitled to any form of remuneration or compensation. There is no entitlement to publication.

Submitted customer opinions and uploaded media are usually reviewed and published within a few working days. All transferable rights of use of the content provided by you are transferred to Hifi Foto Koch GmbH and its current or future partners and representatives (including but not limited to affiliated companies, service providers, search engines, employees, agencies, branches, joint ventures, suppliers).
