The new electronically controlled CASTEL-MICRO focusing slide has been specially developed for focus stacking in close-up and extreme macro photography, for example of insects, minerals, scientific documentation and much more. It has a precision that is second to none. The slide itself runs on precision ball-bearing guide rails to prevent any play.
The CASTEL MICRO has a maximum adjustment range of 100mm and a smallest, repeatable increment of 0.2µ (0.0002mm)! The increments can be set between 0.2µ and 100mm depending on the motif.
The maximum load for vertical mounting is 4 kg. The dead weight is approximately 1.4 kg.
The control unit is powered by rechargeable batteries (type Canon LP-E6 - not supplied! We recommend the use of original Canon batteries!) and is therefore also ideal for outdoor applications or field research. For studio applications, the control unit can also be supplied with power via the supplied mains adapter.
The touchscreen control unit can be used to control the sled for a wide range of applications in 4 different modes:
The step and picture modes allow a quick and uncomplicated start. In both modes, the step size or the number of desired individual shots can be specified based on the image scale and the aperture of the Lens. The software then automatically calculates the required number of individual shots or the required increment. In addition, waiting times between shots can be taken into account, e.g. for mirror lock-up with SLR cameras.
Continuous mode is available for special applications in which the slider moves continuously, thus eliminating the acceleration and braking distances otherwise required and the associated waiting times. Exposures are then sensibly made with very fast shutter speeds and/or flash.
Bellows mode is designed for use with the optionally available bellows attachment CASTBAL-PRO. The front or rear standard can be used here. Bellows mode is not only ideal for macro shots, but also for shots that were previously only possible with a lot of effort, special cameras or tilt/shift Lens. The BALPRO adapter system makes it possible to use different cameras and Lens. This means that even high-quality, mechanical lenses from the specialist camera sector can be integrated into a modern stacking workflow. The Bellows mode imitates the software control of the autofocus of a lens to create a stack of differently focused images of the same object, which are then processed by stacking software to create an image with an amazing depth of field.
The electronically controlled adjustment slide can be fully integrated into the NOVOFLEX Q modular system with stands, rails, angles etc. for complex setups. The coupling mount type Q=MOUNT is ARCA-UniQ/C-compatible and can be offset by 90° if required. On the underside of the rail, the slide has the ARCA-UniQ/C-compatible dovetail profile over its entire length and can therefore be inserted into corresponding coupling mounts. There are also 2 pairs of 3/8"-1/4" threads.
Camera release cables must be ordered separately and are available for the following systems: Canon EOS, Fuji X, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, Samsung, Sigma and Sony.
